Nares’ remarkable artistry is evident in the Lord and Taylor tree, a graceful heap of softly interlocking green ribbon composed of a single brush stroke, very similar in technique to works recently exhibited by the artist in Los Angeles. The tree is also the centerpiece of Lord and Taylor’s 2007 Christmas catalogue, a beautifully photographed perfect-bound book filled with Great Moments of merchandise from elegant classics to sleek modern and up-to- the minute contemporary looks and accessories, as well as surprising gifts. Throughout the book, tiny versions of Nares’ tree indicate exclusive gifts that customers will find Nowhere But Lord and Taylor. The ribbon tree is also used effectively throughout the stores’ visual presentation for the holiday season.
Jane Elfers, President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “Our new Christmas bags are another element of our on-going branding campaign. The extraordinary beauty of the tree James Nares created for us conveys Lord and Taylor’s commitment to enhancing in-store services and amenities, as well as to upgrading merchandise assortments.” The branding campaign, created by David Lipman, was launched this fall and it showcases the results of the four year dramatic repositioning of Lord and Taylor spearheaded by Elfers.
